Description

Finally a low-cost way to test the two best rock polishes available. This a sample pack of 1 Cup (16 Tablespoons) of Cerium Oxide Rock Polish plus 1 Cup (16 tablespoons) of Tin Oxide Rock Polish--enough for four or five 3-pound batches.  We want you to see the spectacular difference that good polishes make on your rocks and decide if it's worthwhile to purchase more.

Note #1:  For Hard Rocks (Mohs 7) in rotary tumblers , we recommend 4-6 weeks in Stage 1--80 Grit (Rotary Tumblers), 1-2 weeks in Stage 2--220 Grit, 1 week in Stage 3--600 Grit, 14 days continuously running with Cerium Oxide, and finally, 14 days continuously running with Tin Oxide.  Total running time = 10-13 weeks.

Note #2:  For Soft Rocks (Mohs 4-5) in rotary tumblers, we recommend 2-4 weeks in Stage 1--80 Grit (Rotary Tumblers), 1 week in Stage 2--220 Grit, 1 week in Stage 3--600 Grit, 1 week in Stage 4--1000 Grit, 14 days continuously running with Cerium Oxide, and finally, 14 continuously running with Tin Oxide.  Total running time = 9-11 weeks.

Note #3:  Make sure you always start each week with the barrel 75% full of solids (rocks + media) and 25 % air when the lid is in place.  For 3-Lb barrels, this would be 1 3/8 inches of air when measured from the top lip of the barrel.  Then add your Silicon Carbide powder (usually 3 Tablespoons for a 3-Lb barrel), then add water up to the level of the rocks.  This will create a perfect rotary slurry, and you can run it continuously for 7 days before cleaning it up.  When polishing, you can run the slurry for 14 days continuously.

Finally, please note that this Kit is sold by volume, not weight--this assures that you always get 16 Tablespoons of each polish.
